Calvary Cemetery.

Ginny was born on November 27, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Albert J. and Lucille (Herkes) Reisch.

Ginny was born, raised and a life-long resident of Dubuque, where she graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy, Class of 1958. She was united in marriage to Robert O’Connell, on January 25, 1964, in Dubuque, and they were blessed with 3 adored children. Ginny was a hard worker and began her career with Roshek’s “Packet” Room cafeteria, then started doing in home day care, as well as working at Mount St. Francis for 35 years, until her well earned retirement in 2017. Ginny was a long time member of Holy Trinity Church whose faith was extremely important to her, and helped her graciously deal with life’s ups and downs. When she found some free time in her day, Ginny could be found sitting quietly knitting, crocheting or sewing her next beautiful creation. She had a soft spot for all animals, and her little dog, Lexi, was a faithful companion who always brought a smile to her face. Above all, family brought the greatest joy into Ginny’s days, she loved any opportunity to spend time with the children and was especially excited when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born and she could spend quality time with them. We are deeply saddened at losing our wonderful mom, grandma, great-grandma and sister, but take some comfort in knowing she is once again reunited with all of her loved ones called home ahead of her, and free from the health issues she has faced with such grace and dignity.
