We are a small family owned and operated funeral home. As you will see below, we are real people with families and hobbies just like you. We are a close knit group and everyone helps out. It is not even unusual to see Kevin and Nancy’s children hanging out and helping with small jobs. Our entire staff is devoted to serving others and are honored to have the opportunity to assist those who are grieving in our community. Our goal here at Behr’s is to provide a quality service to our families, in a professional manner, all while embracing them with a sincere heart. We proudly carry on the tradition of care and compassion set forth by Norb and Mary Behr.
Kevin is the son of Kathy and Jim Conlon. He graduated from Hempstead High School and Loras College in Dubuque. In 1997 he graduated from Worsham School of Mortuary Science and joined the firm as a licensed funeral director. In his free time Kevin enjoys spending time with his two children, working on jeeps with his brother and fixing anything that is broken.
Nancy has been actively involved in the firm since 1995 and currently runs the day to day operations. She is also our funeral preneed consultant; helping families to plan the type of services they desire. She has two children and in her spare time she enjoys participating in all kinds of activities with them, including walking, swimming, tennis, skiing and snowboarding.
Kathy is the daughter of the founders of Behr Funeral Home, Norbert and Mary Behr. She has been a licensed funeral director since 1974, and is currently licensed in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. She is married to Jim Conlon, who owned and operated Key City Plating until his son, Rich, took over the business. Together they have four children and eight grandchildren. Kathy and Jim enjoyed traveling and camping and are train enthusiasts. She also likes gardening and especially looks forward to spending time with her family.
Melody has been helping out at the funeral home for over 22 years, following in her mother, Jan Mauer Entringer’s footsteps. Melody is very friendly and outgoing, and in 2009 also she began working at night assisting families during visitations. She has two children and six grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys watching her grandchildren play sports and attending family gatherings.
Gabby is Kevin and Nancy’s daughter and after graduating from the University of Iowa in May 2021, has joined the firm full time. Gabby helps in the office and assists with funeral services. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, caring for her pets, outdoor activities and traveling when possible.
