To honor Bernice’s life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Avenue, with Rev. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice was born on November 21, 1926, in Balltown, Iowa, daughter of George A. and Mary M. (Nauman) Pape.

Bernice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Burton Albrecht, on June 22, 1948, and they were blessed with 6 wonderful children, before he was sadly called home ahead of her, much too soon, on December 29, 1968. She was a devoted wife and mother who also put her talents to work outside of her home as a nurse’s assistant at Hempstead High School, and doing light assembly with Barnstead Thermolyne, until her well earned retirement in 1991. Bernice’s faith was very important to her as evidenced by her long time membership with both Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Sherrill, and Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. When she found herself with some free time, Bernice enjoyed going bowling with friends, working outside caring for her yard or playing ball with the kids, hitting them shag balls helping them to improve not only their baseball skills, but their math skills as well. She was also a die hard Cubs fan, and was thrilled to get to see them win the World Series in 2016. However, her favorite activity was spending time with her family, they truly were her pride and joy. She loved going to watch the children and grandchildren’s sporting events and theater performances. We are deeply saddened at losing Bernice in our daily lives, but are grateful for all of the wonderful memories we have created throughout the years and will cherish forever.
